Belize celebrates CARICOM ENERGY WEEK this year November 13th – 19th, 2016 under the
Theme: “SUATAINABLE ENERGY FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT”
CARICOM Energy Week (CEW) was established in 2011, as an annual event, through a mandate from CARICOM Energy Ministers. It is intended to provide a platform for economic development of the region.
OBJECTIVES:
- To underscore how central energy is to our sustainable development.
- To highlight the work that is being done, and the role that citizens can play, towards the transformation for a sustainable future.
- Is intended to utilize a “mix of awareness building and knowledge creation” to increase the general participation in the regional energy sector.
- The activities and events, which will be staged, will provide an opportunity to raise awareness in relation to energy matters while, simultaneously addressing, in a deliberate way, some of the critical energy issues that continues to limit sustainable energy use.
Minister Frank “Papa” Mena officially declares CARICOM Energy Week Officially open.
